Customer Review: Cuisinart Chef’s 9-Inch Round Cake Pan
Well I’m not sure what pan the other reviewers are talking about, but the one I have is not worth even 1 penny. I’ve baked 2 cakes in this pan and both times the cake was firmly stuck to the pan and had to be pried out in pieces with a spatula(and no, the cake was not burnt). It tasted great, if you enjoy eating your cake in crumb-form, but I cannot recommend this cake pan to anyone. I am very disappointed and will not buy any more Cuisonart products.

Customer Review: Blew up my boat!
I bought this pump for my Sevylor HF350 inflatable boat. It blew it up in about 20 minutes of actual run time. The directions read to take a 20 minute break after 10 minutes of continuous use.

I was surprised by how it keeps on pumping even with a lot of back pressure and resistance from the inflatable.

Afterwards, I blew up a Coleman Colossus raft in about 5 minutes, and an air mattress in about 2 min!!

So far, I think it’s a great value.

Customer Review: The PERFECT 9″ X 9″ baking pan!
I was thrilled to find that Nordic Ware, a highly respected company in the bakeware business, had this pan available. First, it’s the 9″ x 9″ size. This size can be hard to find. If you do much baking, you will run across recipes calling for a 9″ x 9″ pan; adapting the recipe to an 8″ x 8″ size is difficult and the results are not reliable. I find this 9″ X 9″ size perfect for brownies and small-family cakes. It’s easier to remove bars and brownies from this size pan, as you won’t have to “dig them out”! This pan will give you 9 generous servings. More importantly, this pan is made of aluminum. Aluminum is the best surface for baking, as chefs will tell you. Much of what is in the stores today is cheap steel. Steel is a poor conductor of heat, bakes unevenly and burns food. Aluminum is an excellent heat conductor, and will give you perfectly cooked, and evenly browned, cakes, bars and cookies. I’m thrilled that aluminum is appearing in stores again, after 10-20 years of being hard to find. I hope a new generation will discover the benefits of baking with aluminum - it’s the best!! This Nordic Ware pan is made of thick, heavy aluminum. It is not flimsy, and will not warp with use. As a bonus, the baking pan comes with a plastic lid. Customer Review: Great Non-Stick Grill Pan
We had a cast iron grill pan that we could never fully clean and was chipped from us trying to clean it. Then I read the reviews on Amazon and got this pan. It is wonderful. It is pretty large. I cooked two 2.5 pound flank steaks on it (enough to feed 6+ people) The grill lines leave good grill marks in the steak. It’s also a good value. I found grill pans from $10-$200 and this one seems to be among the best. I recommend spraying the pan with a thin coating of cooking spray before using each time. Then after done cooking, let the pan soak in warm water and soap. Everything will come right off with a sponge.

Customer Review: HOT PAN! Brownies may seem underbaked but are done!
This Bakers Edge brownie (or bars) pan is a heavy duty nonstick wonder, but it needs far LESS time to bake than other pans! Using the “metal pan” directions on the box, bake 1/3 less time - they’e probably done! This pan overbakes easily. For instance the Ghirardelli brownie box says 45 min (at 325) for metal pans, and 30 minutes was plenty! Remember: “fresh baked brownies appear underbaked but cool to doneness.” Wash this pan by hand - is not dishwasher safe - and use no metal utensils, then it’ll stay good as new. PS: best brownie cookbook Amazon carries is “Brownie Points: ” by Lisa Slater. Combined, pan & book make a great gift!
Customer Review: GREAT EDGES~DIFFICULT TO FILL
This pan produced excellent edge pieces as expected. The narrow channels are difficult to fill with batter without some of the batter ending up where you don’t want it. Cooking time is difficult to predict because it might not be the same time you use for your old pan. For example: Directions on boxes of brownies do not have cooking time for this pan. You will definitely have to use the toothpick test. I recommend taking notes of your baking times the first time you make each of your recipes. I found that brownies took 2-4 minutes longer in this pan than they would in a normal pan with the same dimensions. This pan is well made and easy to clean. Overall I do recommend this pan for edge lovers. The negatives do not out weigh the positives. I think I will make some Brownies right now!

Customer Review: Nicer Than I Even Expected
This rack is truly a bargain. Most pot racks I was looking at cost about $100-$200, so I wasn’t expecting the greatest of quality with this one. However, I was quite surprised at how study and well made this one was. It’s also fairly light, so you can install it by yourself and you won’t have to worry about the bolts getting ripped out of the ceiling joints. The only ‘complaint’ I would have is that it does not come with ceiling bolts or any type of mounting instructions. Neither is a big deal since you can Google tips and tricks on mounting (which I would recommend since some sites pointed out things I wouldn’t have thought about) and you can buy the bolts at the hardware store. It would have been nice to know that the bolts weren’t included just so I could have picked them up before the package arrived. All in all, it’s a perfect size for my kitchen and looks great. I would definitely recommend this pot rack to anyone who is looking for something nice without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

Originally I bought this pan to make all sorts of fun foods for my toddler (to encourage healthier eating). Well I just modified my favorite peach cobbler (see original & modified recipe below). My dieting friends loved the cute portion control & I loved how easy they came out of the pan. This pan is very solid & durable, plus clean up was a breeze in the dishwasher. They even freeze well (for a quick defrost treat). I can’t wait to try other recipes (meatloaf, brownies, quiche perhaps? I plan to buy 2 more heart pans & the other shapes in this styles/by same company. Al’s Praline Peach Cobbler Recipe- Crust: Mix 1? c graham cracker crumbs, 1 c fine chopped pecans, 1/3 c packed brown sugar & ? c melted butter; press in 13×9″ pan. Customer Review: Greatly improved my cooking
I love this pan! Here in the Northeast, it’s not much fun to grill outdoors in the winter, so I got this pan as a substitute. I’ve had grill pans in the past, but they heated unevenly and delicate foods like fish stuck to them. If I’m not braising it or steaming it, I’m probably cooking it in this pan - shrimp, fresh fish, vegetables, burgers, steaks, chicken breasts - even satays and skewers. Because I can get the pan so hot, everthing cooks quickly but with beautiful color. I wonder if I’ll ever want to grill outside again?

Customer Review: Don’t give up on it!
I just wanted to encourage buyers of the Moby Wrap.. not to give up. Because, once you get the hang of it, it’s great.

I bought one.. and used it when my baby was only a few days old. It was great for quick walks. But when my husband bought a Baby Bjorn, I thought that was much easier. I began using the Bjorn, until my back started to kill.

I was researching other wraps, when another mom encouraged me to try again with the Moby wrap. (I quit using it because I was not comfortable carrying my baby in the “newborn hug hold” or “cradle hold” anymore, and it seemed like such a project to prepare the wrap, AND, I thought it would be really hot in the summer.)

But, after a few tries, I am hooked. Not only is it much more comfortable then the Bjorn, but it breathes better, and my baby will nap in it longer then the Bjorn. (Discovering the more advanced “hug hold” also helped a lot! My baby is still to little for many of the other positions.)

Most importantly, my back feels much better using it.

I just wanted to pass that on..

Because I almost gave up on it entirely, but it turned out to be a great buy, and I would recommend it. Again, just give yourself a chance to get used to it.. (the yards and yards of fabric are a bit daunting.)

And.. I would still recommend a Bjorn. We have the one with the back support, and my husband loves it. I tend to to think it’s better for dads, as it uses more upper body strength.

This product is great when you don’t want to bring a big stroller or travel system around and when you want to do house work and be hands free. The only thing is it’s too hot for summer for me. But I do use it occasionally, I’ll surely use it for cooler weather.

Here’s what Sophie had to say about the economics of eco-consciousness, the allure of non-toxic nail polish, and of course, whether it’s truly easy being green.

Amazon.com: I’ve heard a common complaint that energy-saving light bulbs, organic food and clothing, and other “green” products are not as economical as traditional products. Is that true? Any tips for readers who want to be eco-conscious and budget-conscious too?

Sophie Uliano: I think that going green has a double meaning in that it also is about saving money. There is no way that I would or could go green if it meant that I was going to have to pay much more. If you make the cleaning spray that I suggest in my book, you will save a bunch on cleaning supplies because it’s an all-purpose cleaner that I use on almost everything (a great germ-buster too). You will pay a little more upfront for energy-saving light bulbs, but as they last 15 times longer, you will save money in the long run. Food is the only thing that you may have to pay a bit more for, however, I think that your health is an important investment, so I choose to save on boring cleaning supplies and treat my family to food that not only tastes more delicious, but will keep them healthy and vibrant. Remember that if you follow all the energy-saving tips in the book, you are going to save a wad of cash too–so it’s a win/win.

Amazon.com: I think many people are interested in making more sustainable choices, but when it comes to the heavy lifting it can be hard to break old habits. We tend to think, “Someone else will ride their bike to work today–I’ll drive like I always do.” What advice do you have that can help people “walk the talk”?

Uliano: I agree that it is hard to break old habits. My suggestion is to break one habit at a time. Choose the one thing that bothers you most. For me it is using paper towels when I know that I can easily use a rag instead. Make a decision about the change you want to make and tell your friends and family that you have decided to do this one thing and that you want their support. It could be that you are going to cook one organic meal from scratch once a week, or that you are going to air-dry your clothes this summer or simply that you will wash out a barely used zip-lock bag, instead of throwing it away–easy!

Amazon.com: Furthermore, I’ve heard many people worry that eco-consciousness is the first step toward becoming a granola hippie, to use one of your own phrases from the book. Do you have to be a hippie to go green?

Uliano: You so don’t have to become the tree hugger/hippie to live a green way of life. I feel passionately that you can still have the glitz, the glam and the gleaming house because now there are so many eco-friendly companies that offer you safe and healthy choices: nail polishes, organic clothes that are fabulous to name a few.

Amazon.com: Not everyone lives in an area where green options are available and accessible. Can you suggest a few ways that readers can live a greener lifestyle even if they don’t have easy access to car-sharing companies, wet dry-cleaners, and other alternatives you mention in your book?

Uliano: If you don’t have easy access to some of the green options in my book, it really doesn’t matter. No matter where you live, you can make a start. I recently visited my in-laws in Georgia, who have fewer options than we do here in Los Angeles; however, they have embarked on making their own cleaners, composting, growing veggies etc. There’s advantages to living in a metropolitan city in that you can buy all the great eco-stuff, but if you live in a more rural setting, it’s fantastic too because you may have a yard in which you can grow tomatoes or air-dry your laundry. I’d pick the latter if given the choice!

Amazon.com: Your book is mainly directed toward female readers–what tips do you have for men who are interested in making sustainable lifestyle changes?

Uliano: I wrote my book for women because I realized that as a mom, wife and working girl I could show like-minded women how easy it is to become green, however, men can totally benefit from my book too! My husband doesn’t have a huge interest in non-toxic nail polish, but he’s fascinated with everything solar and has started biking everywhere. We work together as a team, inspiring each other with our daily green discoveries–it’s fun!

Customer Review: I wanted to like this book….
I wanted to like this book, I really did. I found it to be very cute, but a bit of a puff piece.

There’s alot of tid bits of information, but nothing substantial. Some information is conflicting - on one page Sophie says she avoids microwaves and doesn’t want it altering the molecules in her food. Yet, on another page, she writes that the microwave is the most eco-friendly way to cook, as it uses the least amount of energy.

And yoga sun salutations and exercise instructions don’t belong in a green guide. They just don’t!

I also purchased Easy Green Living by Renee Loux and found it to be much more substantial and informative - like a mini encyclopedia on what you need to do to live green.

Customer Review: Does not live up to the hype
We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans. I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I saw and read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 fry pans. Well, to give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface coating which grows in size as you use it. Then finally when we see the metal base, we got worried that pieces of those non-stick surface gets to our food that we decided it’s time to get rid of it). The non-stick properties starts to wear off before it lasted a year. Pros: -heavy and thick to distribute heat evenly -Handles and glass covers are oven resistant so you can actually use it to cook in the oven -Well made, great construction. Durable. -(If you order a cover) We love the glass cover. It is see through to see your food without lifting it. Heavy that it does not easily rocks on top of the pan. We actually use it with our other pans. Cons: -Not as non-stick as teflon. And non-stick properties continue to deteriorates as you use it. Approximately a year. -For the price, it should last much longer. -Even if it is heavy and thick. It is not good for induction cooking.

This is a very nice pan..very sharp corners with a “lip” on each side to help lift it out of the oven. I just used Smart Balance Margarine and a light coating of flour to prepare it for the batter and when the cake was done, it just slipped right out of the pan. There is nothing better to bake with than simple, heavy aluminum pans and sheets. Your cakes and cookies come out with a beautiful surface, because aluminum bakes so evenly. I won’t bake with anything else….you can have those “non-stick” pans that scratch and rust the first time someone accidentally uses a metal knife to cut the cornbread! I have become a Wilton convert!

When making pies from very juicy fruits, a non-perforated pan will cause the crust to be soggy. These pans avoid that problem—it’s that simple. And, these are great pans: a nice size and a good thickness. I love them, and am ordering more since I’ve given away to friends the two I had. Good perforated pans are tough to find! Here’s a terrific and simple recipe to try, and especially useful for using up pears (if you have a tree or someone sent you a pear basket), but you need THESE PANS to make it: PEAR TART Use any crust recipe or prepared crust. Prick the crust with a fork, and bake crust alone at 400 degrees until browned (about 10 minutes). Slice 5 ripe pears and arrange in crust. In a plastic quart-size bag, knead 1/3 cup butter, 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 cup suger, and about 1/2 tsp of cinnamon until it is crumbly. (You can do this in a bowl too with your hands or with a pastry knife, but using the plastic bag method saves mess and the kids can help.) Sprinkle the crumble on top of the sliced pears, and bake til golden brown (about 45 minutes) at 400. Cool about an hour, and serve the same day (topping gets soggy otherwise)—you’ll get rave reviews! As a variation, you can also add to the pears about 1/4 cup of rough-chopped cranberries (adds tartness, kids usually don’t like this variation) or whole dried cherries (kid-friendly).

Customer Review: A great summer investment…if you make a few modifications
I bought this pool after my disasterous experience with the first one I purchased, which was an Intex 90″ x 22″ Swim Center Color Whirl Pool (please read the review I wrote about it before you consider buying that product). I purchased the pool alone (without the filter or other accessories) after reading several poor reviews about the quality of the filter that comes with the set. Instead of purchasing the 300 gallon/hour filter, I bought the Intex Easy Set 800 GPH pool pump/filter, which has been keeping the water clean without difficulty. If you are considering purchasing this pool, I would recommend that you do the same. In addition, I would also recommend buying the following items (many of these can be found at local stores if you would like to save money on shipping and handling):

1) a ground cloth…you can save some money by purchasing a Southern Camp 10′ x 10′ Blue Tarp (available at Amazon for a fraction of the price you’ll spend on one that’s labeled as a “swimming pool ground cloth” and it works just the same);

2) a pool cover…you can also use the tarp mentioned above for this purpose (just make sure you buy 2; one for use as a ground cloth and the other for a cover), but I would recommend buying a round pool cover that’s made for this type of pool because it stays in place better (it has drawstrings to help secure it to the inflatable ring);

3) pool chemicals…specifically: chlorine (in granular form), pH increaser (soda ash), pH decreaser (pool acid), algaecide/clarifier, conditioner, and pool shock (many of these chemicals are sold together in pool maintenance kits; just make sure the kit you purchase in suitable for use in inflatable pools)…also, you will need a chemical test kit for measuring pH and chlorine levels (these are usually included in pool maintenance kits, as well);

4) a pool skimmer net, a nylon pool brush, and a pole that can be used with both;

5) a package of spare filter cartridges for use with the pool pump/filter you purchase;

6) an Intex Pool Surface Skimmer/Leaf Basket (this is optional, but it does help keep the pool surface free of leaves and bugs) NOTE: THE SKIMMER CAN ONLY BE USED WITH A 500 GALLON PER HOUR INTEX POOL PUMP/FILTER OR LARGER (IT WILL NOT WORK WITH SMALLER MODELS)…AS I STATED BEFORE, I RECOMMEND BUYING THE 800 GALLON/HOUR MODEL; and

7) a pool ladder (this is also optional; you’ll only need it if you have children who are too short to step over the sides of this pool).

I bought all of the items mentioned above and I couldn’t be any happier with the end result. I haven’t had any of the water leakage or air leakage problems that I had with the first pool I purchased, even though I set it up in exactly the same spot. I was also able to set it up the entire system without any assistance. From start to finish, it took about 3 hours until it was ready to swim in. This pool seems to be quite durable; the whole family has been playing and splashing in it almost every day this summer, without any problems arising. It does cost more to buy the extra maintenance supplies and the pool parts separately (rather than buying the set with a filter that won’t do the job), but it has been worth the investment. And, unlike the Intex 90″ x 22″ Swim Center Color Whirl Pool, with a little bit of daily maintenance (checking the pH and chlorine levels, and using the skimmer net when needed), the water has remained clean, clear, and most importantly, IN THE POOL!

Customer Review: Lasted 3 weeks.
This was a great pool for my 5 year old daughter to play in. She also was learning how to swim, so it was perfect. The problem was that within a week it started to roll to one side and this was on our flat concreted patio with ground cover down to prevent scratching the pool plastic. As soon as it started to roll and the bottom was exposed to pressure it started leaking. For the first few days it was just a little bit and then suddenly it just ripped a seam open into a 6 inch hole that drained the whole pool in about 5 minutes.

Do not buy this pool. It is great for a week or two and then it is gone.

We have two very large male Maine Coon cats. We were using two hooded litter boxes. The cats did not seem to mind using them, but I felt that they just didn’t have enough room to use them comfortably. I wanted a big litter box that was not awful to look at. This litter box is perfect and fits nicely in our cat room. I also use the Litter Locker Plus so the blue color of this box compliments the Litter Locker. My cats absolutely love it! They took to it right away and they make less mess because they can move around in it much easier than the smaller hooded box. I highly recommend this box to anyone with large cats. It is deep enough that they do not kick litter out over the top. Two thumbs up on this product.

A bit pricey but after using them I am definitely glad I made the purchase. Make with chocolate cake and fill with chocolate mousse or white cake and fill with chocolate pudding and top with whipped cream and your guests will marvel. Of course, the usual- fill with berries, etc., and pipe on a little whipped cream …all make for spectacular desserts. A few tips: Make sure to spray well with a flour cooking spray for easy release. Just cover the flat surface with batter if you want a little smaller cake (not as high). If you don’t have one buy a large pastry bag and a large head for piping in mousse, whipped cream, etc.. Also- use half steam pan aluminum trays with the edges twisted up for easy storage of 6 muffins if you like to pipe filling on high. These will get tons of use. You might want to buy 2 for convenience.
